  • Brother, Brother , don't leave me! Don't leave me!
  • The narrator's brother, Doodle, is born. Doodle is born extremely sensitive, with red skin, and a big head compared to his small body. Doodle's brother always wanted to have a younger brother to play with, so he is disappointed of Doodle's limitations.
  • Falling Action
  • Doodle! Doodle!
  • As Doodle grows older, his brother becomes embarrassed to be the kid whose brother has limitations. Therefore, the brother takes it upon himself to teach Doodle how to walk, run, climb, swim, and more, disregarding Doodle's special conditions.
  • Resolution
  • One day, Doodle and his brother go canoeing, but it starts raining. When they come out of the water, Doodle is too exhausted and needs his brother's help to get back home. However, his brother runs off and leaves Doodle behind in the storm.
  • Conflict
  • Doodle's brother is next to their house and realizes Doodle is not behind him anymore. He comes back to get Doodle, unfortunately, he is too late and finds Doodle near a tree dead, covered in blood.
  • Doodle's brother hovers over him to provide comfort. He cries and regrets his actions as well as over exhausting Doodle. He realizes his pride has got to him and led to unfortunate effects. The narrator lays with Doodle and covers him from the rain.
  • Man vs. Man When trying to play with Doodle, the brother exceeds Doodle's limits. This was relevant when he would play too harsh with Doodle in the cart, causing Doodle to fall out and begin to cry.
