March 17th- John Wilkes Booth plans to kidnap Lincoln at a soldiers hospital, but Lincoln bails on his trip.
April 14th- Lincoln is watching "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theatre when he is shot by Booth.
April 15th- Lincoln is carried to Peterson House where he dies at 7:22 am. Secretary of War Edwin Stanton remarks "Now he belongs to the ages."
April 26th- Booth and his accomplice Herald are captured in a tobacco barn in Virgina. Harold gives himself up and Booth is shot and killed by Corporal Boston Corbett.
May 4th- Lincoln's body is laid to rest in a tomb at Springfield's Oak Ridge Cemetery.
July 7th- George Atzerodt. David Herold, Lewis Paine and Mary Surratt are executed at the Old Penitentiary in Washington for their part in the assassination conspiracy.
