Good Vs. Evil
In lord of the flies two different types of power are demonstrated through the characters. Two types of power are authoritarian and democratic power.Democracy is demonstrated through Ralph. Democratic power is strongly represented through the conch.Authoritarian is demonstrated through Jack. The boys of Jacks tribe are afraid of jack, making them follow him.
There is Jack versus Ralph. Jack creates a tribe, one that sacrifices animal parts to the Beast. Maybe the Beast will be pleased and won't hurt them if they sacrifice these pigs heads. Jack's henchmen, are as evil as they come. Roger tortures kids, and he eventually kills Piggy. Jack, at the end, reverts to human sacrifice, with a stick "sharpened at both ends" for Ralph, as he plans on sacrificing Ralph's head to the Beast. Then Jack's entire tribe hunts Ralph until they are rescued by the adults
One of the greatest emotions that controls the way any person thinks in certain situations, especially in Lord of the Flies, is fear. The fear of the beast, was an essential one to the story of The Lord of the Flies, as it manifests into different characters. The final two fears that we are exposed to in The Lord of the Flies, are the fears of loss of power, and the fear of being in the minority. These fears lead on sequentially from one another.
