Storyboard Text

  • Forunato
  • Montresor
  • He did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation. I must not only punish him, but punish with impunity...
  • Amontillado!
  • I have received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, I was silly enough to pay the full price without consulting you in the matter.
  • Exposition: Characters- Fortunato & Montresor Setting: at the Carnival and Catacombs (Medieval Times)
  • Pass your hand over the wall; you cannot help feeling the niter.
  • But the Amontillado!
  • After insults were ventured upon him, Montresor vowed revenge on Fortunato.
  • Ha! ha! ha!--he! he!-- a very good joke indeed-- an excellent jest. We will have many a rich laugh about it at the palazzo.
  • Montresor tricks Fortunato into coming to his vault with lies of the fine wine, Amontillado. Also, Montresor provides him with more wine to keep him intoxicated.
  • Montresor once again tricks Fortunato in his drunk state and quickly chains him to the wall in the crypt.
  • Now beginning to sober up and realizing that he is chained up, Fortunato begins to yell and assumes this is all a joke. Meanwhile, Montresor is building a wall to trap him in the crypt.
  • Fortunato is successfully buried alive, in which he then dies from his worsening illness. The vault was not disturbed for a half a century.
