Storyboard Text

  • Welcome class! Today's lesson is about South Asia's five religions.
  • The religions are Hinduism, Jainism,  Sikhism, Islam, and Buddhism.
  • I have a question. I know that deities is the representation of a brahmin, but  what is reincarnation?
  • Hinduism is a large religion in South Asia. They worship deities and reincarnation
  • Good question! reincarnation is the rebirthing of the soul, like an afterlife.
  • That's cool!
  • Nonviolence to everything? Wow!
  • The next religion is Jainism, where they believe in nonviolence to all things.
  • Then comes Sikhism. Sikhism was created to combine Islam and Hinduism.
  • Two Religions in one!
  • Aren't the Muslims also found in the Middle East?
  • Islam is the largest minority religion on South Asia.
  • That's right! In fact, they started there in Jerusalem and then spread to South Asia.
  • Then come Buddhism, where they follow the four noble truths. Do you know what they are?
  • They are 1. Life contains suffering, 2. Selfishness causes suffering, 3. It is possible to move on from suffering, and 4. There is a path that leads to this point.
  • Impressive! You deserve some recess!
  • Yay!!! Lets go!
