Harriet Beecher Stowe
Uncle Tom's Cabin
SLAVES ARE PROPERTY NOT PEOPLE!!
YOU SOUTHERNERS DON'T KNOW HOW TO TREAT HUMANS!!
Uncle Tom's Cabin was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1852. As said by rumor, Abraham Lincoln met Harriet, and told her, "so you're the little woman who wrote the book that started the great war."
This book caused Northerners to see how brutal and inhumane slavery is. Northerners began to oppose slavery more and more, because it evolved into something that was against their beliefs and religion.
The book was not the only or main cause of the Civil War, but it played a big factor in how the war started. It showed the Northerners the real slave crisis, which led to the inauguration of Lincoln. This led to more violence between the Southerners and the Northerners, leading into the start of the Civil War.
