Rural to Urban Migration
The rates of growth are generally high in LICs due to high birth rates and falling death rates. Population is much higher in urban areas due to rural to urban migration.
There are many food issues due to growing urban population. Some causes are inefficient farming methods and many farms are losing many of its workers as thy join the movement to towns and cities.
Rural-Urban migration increases the growth of activities in the secondary and tertiary sectors. It also helps reduce population pressure on rural areas. Low agricultural productivity is made worse by land degradation, insecure land tenure, poor farming methods and the loss of male labour.
