In 1804 John Dalton discovered the first picture of an atom. The atom is a solid like a bowling ball, etc. but the thing is that atoms cannot be divided, created, or destroyed.
As time passes technology starts to become more advanced and you start to see negative charges inside the atom. You can see the negative charges spread out throughout the model as this discovery was made by J.J. Thomson in 1904.
In 1909 Ernest Rutherford discovered the nucleus inside an atom. The nucleus is located in the center of the atom and it has a positive charge. The nucleus is filled with protons and there´s electrons surrounding the nucleus but its not that compact because atoms are mostly empty space.
In 1913 Niels Bohr found more detailed model of an atom. The atom has electrons in its orbits around the nucleus. The atom itself is based on the energy the electron and is still used to draw atoms
In 1926 a modern model of an atom was made and it was called a Quantum model. The electrons are in ¨clouds¨ that are called orbitals and the location of it is based on the probability.
