Storyboard Text

  • This is Manzanar. It's where you will stay until ordered otherwise.
  • The living space is one for a mouse. Nothing here works and there is very little supplies. Papa is back with us but has become an aggressive alcoholic. The only good thing is I am starting to live for myself.
  • YEAR 1
  •
  • Things have been a lot better. We have finally found a way to make things move smoothly and we even have a garden and roads. Papa has even started to help in the garden and is much happier.
  • YEAR 2
  • Jeanne and her family (some separated) were sent to Manzanar after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
  • The first year was rough. They had many struggles in the camp but in was a milestone for Jeanne as she started to become more independent.
  • It seems you and your parents are very happy with your success here this year.
  • Everybody blossoms somewhere, and here is for you.
  • After three years in high school, I finally am happy.
  • The second year was better for everyone. They started to learn how to run the camp. They had a garden and even roads to guide around.
  • After a while many people became worried about what they were going to do after life at camp, including Jeanne and her family. Before their scheduled time to leave her father decided to move them to Long Island.
  • School was rough for Jeanne. People could not get over her race, but after she moved for her last year of high school, she blossomed.
  • The story ends with Jeanne showing her family around the camp.
