Once upon a time there were 3 witches who were planning on meeting with Macbeth, who was made Thane of Cawdor by the King of Scotland, King Duncan.
On a hill near the battlefield, the witches appeared in time to find Macbeth, and the witches spread the prophecy that Macbeth would be King one day. Macbeth started asking more questions, and with that the witches disappeared within a blink of an eye.
Later on at King Duncan's castle, he made an announcement that his son Malcolm would take his place on the throne once he died. Macbeth was worried because he thought that HE would become King. Now Malcolm stood in his way. He couldn't let that happen so he thought of an idea to get his crown; he was to kill the King, Macbeth hurried home to tell his wife his plans.
Macbeth told his wife his plan to kill Duncan, the plan was to invite the King to his place, get Duncan drunk and blame it on his servants saying that they were the ones that killed him. After, Macbeth would take the crown to himself. When it came down to it, Macbeth couldn't do it, he could not kill King Duncan.
In the middle of the night, Macbeth had saw a knife floating in mid air, where he followed it into King Duncan's room, and used it to kill Duncan while he was sleeping. He also killed two of the servants to frame them. The next day the kingdom was in a panic, and Malcolm left the country so the same thing wouldn't happen to him either.
With King Duncan and his son gone, Macbeth was now the King of Scotland. However, his friend Banquo knew of what the witches had said and wondered if Macbeth had anything to do with the King's death. Macbeth realized he was a huge threat, so he ordered two murderers to do the job. They got rid of Banquo, but his son had escaped.
