Judging others before you know their situation
'To Kill a Mockingbird' by Harper Lee portrays the theme of judging others before they really know them. This is portrayed through misinterpreting situations and racism in society.
Scout and Jem believed that Mrs. Dubose was just a cranky old women, when in reality she was fighting her own war against her morphine addiction before she died.
Most of the people in Maycomb thought poorly of Atticus because he was defending a Tom. What most don't know, is that Atticus never judged by color, he went by his morals.
All of Maycomb believes that Mr. Raymond is an alcoholic, but they just don't know him.
For the longest time, everyone thought that Boo was insane so he stays inside. Though he stays inside because he doesn't like being outside with the rest of society.
