We have found a new fossil fuel...Kerosene.
A man lived in a town called Spindletop named,Pattillo Higgins,a brick-factory owner, who believed oil would be found in salt domes at Spindletop Hill.Salt domes are underground formations that often trap oil and natural gases. He also hired an engineer,Anthony F.Lucas.They started drilling in 1900 and found the motherload in 1901.When he hit the pocket the gas pushed the oil out of the ground and it shot over 100 feet into the air,you could see it from 10 miles away. After that hundreds of people moved to Spindletop.
Scientists developed kerosene, oil,in the 1800s.Kerosene was a new fuel that could be made from coal or petroleum.Commonly called oil, petroleum is a dark, thick, liquid fossil fuel.Oil is also called,"Black gold".
The oil boom in Spindletop peaked in 9102 at more than 17 million barrels of oil.Twenty percent of the U.S oil came from Spindletop. The supply of oil outpaced the demand,Therefor, one barrel of oil costed 3 cents.
