  • The Masque of Red Death
  • Exposition
  • Rising action
  • The Masque of Red Death written by Edgar Allen Poe in 1842. It is about madness, death, and obsession with a darker view than other romantics.
  • Climax
  • I AM THE RED DEATH AND BEING RICH ISN'T GOING TO SAVE YOU!!
  • Prince Prospero is attempting to avoid the dangerous plague by taking his closest friends into the castle.
  • Resolution
  • The prince is hopeful for a good ending so he throws a ball in several rooms which each have a different theme and color. The final room is a dark red color with a grand clock which creeps everyone out when it rings.
  • American Gothic
  • This costume is no joke
  • At midnight a figure appears dressed as a victim of the Red Death. The Prince was upset by the costume so he confronted the figure in the blood colored room with a dagger raised.
  • The figured turned to his pursuer and the prince dropped dead. Everyone in the castle dies.
  • 1. Emphasis on emotion, nature, and the individual: Everyone was scared when the clock rang. 2. Elements of fantasy: The red death was described as a person 3. Explored human ability to be evil: locked everyone out to stay safe which didnt work.
