During the winter, Lewis and Clark hired Toussaint Charbonneau, a French fur trader, and his wife, a Shoshone woman named Sacagawea, (understanding/making real/achieving) that this woman could help them by acting as understand/explainer with her people, who lived near the Missouri's (beginning point of a river).
The party had to climb mountains and cross rivers and befriend indians
The expedition makes it to the Pacific Ocean and create Fort Clatsop for the the winter and then went back home. The trip was about an year and a half
