Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
This storyboard does not have a description.
Call to adventure / refusal of the call
Crossing the threshold / meeting the mentor
Harry Potter's ordinary world is living with his uncle, aunt, and cousin (because his parents were killed when he was little) He is clearly unhappy, lives under the staircase and is treated horribly. Harry's aunt and uncle go to great lengths in order to prevent Harry from attending Hogwarts or having any idea that magic exists.
Tests, Allies, Enemies
Harry himself does not refuse the call, It is Harry's uncle that refuses it by actually trying to prevent Harry from receiving the call/letter by not allowing him to open the letters sent to him from Hogwarts and doing everything he can to keep the letters from coming.
Harry actually has a couple mentors but Hagrid is the first one he meets and offers both knowledge and emotional support for him. He is the first one to tell Harry that he is a wizard and also acts as a guide by helping Harry crosses the threshold into the magic world and telling him details on how he and Voldemort (the man who killed Harry's parents) are related.
Harry meets his best friends, Ron and Hermione on the train ride to Hogwarts, and they end up helping him all throughout his journey. Harry encounters various tests that challenge his wizardry skills. One of the major tests he goes through is facing the troll, in the bathroom with Ron and Hermione. Harry has two main enemies, Draco Malfoy, who really just wants to make Harry's life hard, and Voldemort, the man who killed him family who is trying to kill him.
Harry is caught up in a fight to the death (kind of) with Voldemort over the sorcerers stone. Harry's reward after finding Voldemort (the man that killed his parents) is having defeated him and not allowed him to gain the Sorcerer's Stone therefore preventing him from returning anytime soon to harm anyone or cause more problems.
Harry wakes up in the hospital having barely survived his encounter with Voldemort, however, he is now seen as a stronger and more powerful boy and wizard. very hesitant to, Harry returns to his ordinary life, because the school year is over but will return to Hogwarts again in the fall with his friends and other wizards.
