  • Midnight, on a cold December's night. The narrator sits quietly in his chamber, dosing off from the book of lore he had been reading. When a quiet tapping emitted from his chamber door. The tapping woke him from his short nap. He waved it off as a visitor.
  • Falling Action
  • He called out to the mysterious thing that had made the faint noise. But no reply was to be heard. Opening the chamber door there was nothing, nothing that could have made the tapping noise.
  • Resolution
  • Opening the chambers window a raven flew in and perched on a bust of Pallas above his chamber door. He soon yelled and questioned the raven, asking if he'd ever see his lost Lenore again... The raven replied, "Nevermore."
  • ONE Literary Element Discussed in Class.
  • Distraught by the bird reply, he screamed at the raven and warned for it to never come back, to return to the Night's Plutonian shore. The raven simply spoke, "Nevermore."
  • Though the warnings he had said, the bird still sat upon Pallas' head. He looked in the ravens eyes and saw nothing but a demon, but he would never escape the words the bird had bestowed him.
  • "And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor Shall be lifted - nevermore!" A shadow that lies is personification, shadow cannot lie.
