Causes of the War of the Roses
Henry VI, King of England is suffering from mental instability
Richard, Duke of York rules instead until Henry recovers
Richard arrests Somerset and stops Margret (the Queen) from ruling. He does this so he has a secure spot in the throne.
When Henry gets better, Margaret and Somerset control him and push Richard out of power
Richard kills Edmund Beaufort (Somerset) at the battle of St. Albans.
Margaret now controls Henry/England.
The main causes of the war was: 1. The will to be king (wanting to increase or protect their power). 2. important people seeking to increase and then protect their own power. 3. The royal splitting into two factions and fighting each other.
The War of the Roses start when Margaret and her supporters fight Richard and his supporters over the throne.
