The Women March on Versailles.
WE WANT BREAD
On October 5th, 1789 nearly 7000 working women of Pairs marched to Versailles in the rain, armed with pitchforks, pikes and muskets; chanting bread and yelling for bread.
When the mob of women reached Versailles, their anger was focused on Marie Antoinette. The French Guard was deployed to protect the Royals. But, the women were still able to break through and into the castle. They killed numerous gurads, putting their heads on pikes and carrying them around.
Marie Antoinette heard the screams of the people and made quick time hiding with her husband. If she hadn't been faster she would have died. Little did she know, she had met the end of her extravengant life.
Soon the King and Queen where both forced out of hiding. The people demanded the castle bread and to have the royals move back to Pairs. The King and Queen not having any other choice made their way to Pairs surronded by tje very women who started the fight.
Though the Monarchy is still in place, but has lost all of its former power and glory. The King and Queen will be kept in Paris until their respective executions. This march drove the Revulotion to firmly take ahold of France.
