Declaration of Independence
Valley Forge took place during the winter from 1777-1778. No battle was actually fought there. More than 1/5 soldiers died of disease and sickness from the lack of supplies and harsh temperatures. Friedrich von Steuben, a Russian army officer, came in later on and taught the America troops basic military skills.
John Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman signed the Declaration. Thomas Jefferson was the main author.
Bunker Hill was the battle in Revolutionary War that demonstrated the colonists could fight against British. They had to use cannons and weapons. Washington arranged for cannons to be taken from New York. They brought over 300 miles in the middle of winter. They used them to scare the British.
