  • The exposition is when Ian is walking to the club. Its the exposition because it is the start of the story and it introduces some very important characters to the story.
  • climax
  • The inciting incident is when Ian is jumped by thugs and sarge come and saves him. Its the inciting incident because Ian meets sarge who becomes a very important character in the book and sarge sparks Ian's interest.
  • falling action
  • The rising action is when Ian goes with Mac on his rounds around the park. It's the rising action because Ian learns about how the homeless men and women would rather sleep in dumpsters than go to a warm place to sleep. It's a big realization for him.
  • resolution
  • The climax is when Ian finds out that Sarge has a drinking problem, he goes to confront him about it and Sarge throws a bottle at him. It's the climax because Ian finally finds out why Sarge ended up on the streets.
  • The falling action is that Ian refers Sarge to detox and tells him a story that one of Berta's friends told Ian, Sarge decides to go. Its the falling action because its like the last thing Ian can do to help Sarge and that's all Ian in the end wants to do.
  • the resolution is that Ian continues to help at the club. It's the resolution because even after Ian is done help hours for school he continues to come because he wants to help.
