Storyboard Text

  • Delegates, those who support the Constitution are known as Federalists. Yet, there is a group who opposes the draft Constitution because it will reduce state powers. The Anti-Federalists believe the power promised will not be separate enough, and will grant too much control to the Central Government. After this: which one are you?
  • Anti-Federalist meeting.
  • James Madison
  • Hello everyone, as you know, I'm a Federalist and today I'm going to talk to you about the Constitution.
  • 5 MIN. INTO SPEECH
  • Is this guy serious right now..? He's just going to come to an Anti-Fed meeting and do this?
  • (*under breath*): uh oh... They caught on.
  • HEY BUDDY! IF YOU SAY THE CONSTITUTION WON'T BE BAD, HOW DO WE KNOW YOU WON'T TAKE CONTROL OF THE GOVERNMENT LIKE YOU ARE THIS MEETING?!
  • (*Stammers*): Guys I-I-I think you're missing the point here. We just want to use a little bit of your consented power to do things like tax you without approval.
  • JUST LEAVE! YOU JUST WANT CONGRESS TO HAVE NO LIMITATION OF POWER!
  • This does not follow REPUBLICANISM!!!!
  • *Sighs*
  • Yeah!!! WHAT HAPPENS TO STATE POWERS?!?!
  • WE DON'T WANT THIS!! I READ THE CONSTITUTION AND IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE SPECIFIC LISTINGS TO WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR RIGHTS!!!
  • After a long day, the anti-federalists were more than sure that the promised national government has the potential for a tyranny. The anti-federalists did not agree with the idea of partial Social Contract Theory: Some power is given up through consent, but the document doesn't protect the rights promised. Congress will consume State powers and WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE'S RIGHTS?!?!?!
