  • Antigone is very brave and caring. When it comes to her family she will do anything for them, this is why she felt the need to bury her brother, Polyneices.
  • Tragic flaw
  • Why did you do this if you knew it was forbidden?
  • Antigone was very brave and cared for her family. "Will you help these hands take up Polyneices' corpse and bury it?" Page 255
  • Realization of flaw 
  • Antigone was a hero to her brother, she got caught burying him. "Where could I gain greater glory than setting my own brother in his grave?" Page 273
  • Tragic fate/downfall
  • I'm doing this with or without your help.
  • After she had been caught, King Creon came to talk to her. "Tell me briefly-not in some lengthy speech-were you aware there was a proclamation forbidding what you did?" "I'd heard of it. How could I not? It was public knowledge." Page 271

  • For her actions, she must be locked in this cave with limited food and water. She ended up hanging herself instead of dying a slow death. "Then leave her there alone, all by herself-she can sort out whether she wants suicide or remains alive, buried in a place like that" Page 288
