The Birth and Youth of Moses
Mount Sinai and the Ten Commandments
The Hebrews saw the God of Israel
A woman had a baby and to protect him, she put him in a basket and released him to the Nile River. The baby was founded by the pharaohs daughter who took pity on him and raised him as her own. She would go on and name him Moses and he would grow up as royalty.
God gave Moses two tablets. On these tablets were the ten commandments. These ten rules are the rules of our faith. God told Moses to share these with the people. That is what he did on Mount Sinai.
God told Moses that himself, seventy elders and his two sons must come to the mountain and worship him at a distance, and that only Moses could come close. Mose told the Lord's instructions to the people and the next morning built an altar for God. Their was sacrifices and rituals that took place and Moses read aloud the Lord's commands and promises. Later, he and the seventy elders went up to the mountain and saw God standing on what seemed like pavement of sapphire.
