  • You cannot defy our uncle King Creon's laws Antigone!
  • Hero
  • I love you Antigone.
  • Meet Antigone the Princess of Thebes that had a tragic flaw which lead to her downfall.
  • Tragic Flaw
  • I did it I buried my brother!
  • Do you admit to this act?
  • "Let that be your excuse. I'm going now to make a burial mound for my dear brother" (p.256). Antigone is arguing with her Ismene about wanting to bury her brother who was supposed to be King.
  • Realization of Flaw
  • "Even though your mission makes sense, your friends do truly love you" (p.257). Ismene finally gives up arguing with Antigone and agrees with Antigone on burying Polynieces.
  • Tragic Fate
  • "I'll admit it. I did it. I won't deny it" (p.271). The guard brought Antigone to her uncle King Creon after catching her in the act of burying Polynieces.
  • Either way I know I'll die!
  • "Don't try to share my death or make a claim to actions which you did not do. I'll die and that will be enough" (p.274). Antigone understands her blindness of being determined to bury Polynieces no matter the consequences.
  • "We saw Antigone hanging by the neck-held up in a noose" (p.300) King Creon puts Antigone away in a cave and she ends up killing herself.
