  • Monsieur G, the prefect of Parisian police, comes to Dupin and his friend for help on the stolen purloined case.
  • Climax
  • The political women witnessed Minister D stealing her letter. Unfortunately, she could not confront him at the time, the visitor whom she was trying to distract would discover the contents of the letter.
  • Falling Action
  • The police thoroughly searched the suspect’s house but found no evidence of the letter or of it ever being there. But when Monsieur G returns to Dupin's home, Dupin hands him the purloined letter.
  • Resolution
  • In exchange for fifty francs, Dupin gives Monsieur G the purloined letter and tells explicitly how he discovered Minister D's identity, the letters location, and how he recovered it.
  • Dupin switched the Purloined letter with his facsimile one.
  • The political woman's letter is safe, the stolen purloined letter case is closed, and Dupin yet again uses his analytical and observant mind to solve the case.
