  • Rising Action
  • When Paul Bunyan was born, he was so big that when he turned over in his crib, it would cause an earthquake.
  • Rising Action
  • Paul's parents built him a wooden cradle and put him in the waters by Maine. Instead of causing an earthquake his movement would now cause a flood.
  • Climax
  • Paul's parents decided to move him into the woods, to keep him away from the town's people that were so worried about his size.
  • Falling Action
  • Once living in the forest, Paul and his father began cutting down trees. It soon became clear that Paul could chop down a tree faster than any man he's ever met.
  • In the forest, Paul found an unusual blue ox among the winter snow. Paul grew to like this ox because he was as big and strong as he was. Paul named his ox Babe.
  • Paul and Babe worked together to become known as the best lumberjacks. They helped clear most of the forests in North America, which prepared the land for the farms that exist today.
