My name is Sara, I was born in Syria, and I moved here with my parents when I was 13.
My name is Maria. I was born in Guatemala. My mother and I immigrated to the United States when I was 7 years old.
My father lost his job, and after several home invasions, we left for the United States to find a safer home and for my father to find a job.
The cartels were demanding rent, and my mother could not afford it. They were also beating up kids at my school, so we immigrated to get away from the violence and for my mom to find a job.
People think I support terrorism because I am Muslim. I actually support peace and am proud to be an American.
People think that I am an illegal immigrant who doesn't speak English. I actually am a permanent resident and I speak Spanish, English, and some Italian.
