This storyboard does not have a description.
A bunch of people close by have been killed!
Everyone is gone!
In 1947, an announcement was made throughout a village, Chhajpur Kalan, telling them that their land was being divided so they had to help a bunch of migrating families.
When Mr. Rehman and his brother were working on the farm, a man came up and told them villages close by had been invaded and many people were killed. They realized it was some of their cousins. The man also told them they were going to Chhajpur Kalan.
50 ARE DEAD????
Mr. Rehman hid in the field while his brother dressed up so that when the invaders saw them they would not be able to recognize them. They told the invaders that everyone had left the village so they would not go.
Everything was so much better before the partition
However, when the brothers went back to the village, many people were dead in the streets and houses and stores were robbed.
Mr. Rehman and his brother went to Chhajpur Khurd. The families there took them to Noorwala where refugees had come together. In Noorwala, they told them that fifty members of his family had been murdered. Mr. Rehman was unable to speak for a while after he heard this news.
The refugees from Noorwala were taken to a refugee camp, where Mr. Rehman lived for one month. He was out on a train with other refugees to Amritsar. After not feeling at home, he moved to Daultala and still lives there today. He felt that life was much easier before the partition.
