Our labour tills the soil, fertilises it, and yet there is not one of us that owns more than his bare skin. In return for your efforts, what have you ever had except your bare rations and a place to sleep?
But no animal escapes the cruel knife in the end. Every one of you will scream your lives out at the block. To that horror we all must come--cows, pigs, hens, sheep, everyone.
Old Major gathers all the animals to the barn to give a speech. These animals included; Clover, Boxer, and Mollie, The horses; chickens, cows, geese, pigeons, mice, pigs, a donkey, a goat and a cat; Benjamin; Jessie, Bluebell and Pincher, The three dogs; and Moses, the farmers Raven. (Page 26)
Old Major gave a speech on how their land could easily hold more animals and that man was just using them for food and labor and barely feeding them enough. He spoke on how there would be an uprising, if not now, in the future. (Page 29)
He also told his comrades about what Farmer Jones does to them after they die. He tried to pander to each one of them and scare them so they would have a bigger reason to rise up against Farmer Jones (Page 29)
