  • You knew, didn't you? I'm a part of you?
  • The kids are scared of the idea of the beast. Then when the idea that the beast may come from the sea scares alot of them, even the older kids. ralph being the leader wants to settle things down ttelling them that there is no beast.
  • This shows Jack taunting Ralph about being scared. He uses Ralph's fear against his leadership. This forces Ralph to prove his bravery and go up the mountain with Jack.
  • “He came disguised. He may come again even though we gave him the head of our kill to eat. So watch and be careful.”
  • The interaction between the Lord of the Flies and Simon shows that the fear the boys have for the beast is not real. The fear tht the boys have grows and the more savage they become. The Lord of the Flies tells Simon,who represtens goodness, to stay out of the way.
  • The dance the boys preform is created out of fear to get rid of the beast. When Simon runs down, they kill him out of the fear of the beast. Simon's death represents the loss of innocents and now that it is gone the fear of the boys will take over.
  • "Surrounded by a fringe of inquisitive bright creatures" "Simon's dead body moved out toward the open sea"
  • Jack uses the fear of the beast as a way to have power, even after Simon's death he tries to say it was the beast disguised as Simon and that the beast is still alive to keep the power from the fear in the kids.
