Old Dog Marley
My kids have been anxiously waiting for snow over winter break. The snow had waited till after new years. At the first sight of it we were all ready bundled up and ready to go. Our kids first snow day was perfect. School had closed and the snow was already 6 inches deep and still falling. Marley had a blast. We went on a ride down the hill on the toboggan, we had almost crashed!
As we said our Goodbyes
Since we had so much land, Jenny and I decided to get some chickens. When we got the chickens, the lady who gave them to us told us Not to name them. We couldn't resist, Patrick named his Feathers, Conor named his Tweety, Colleen named hers Fluffy, and Jenny named hers Shirley. It turned out that three out of the chickens were males. When they sang their song every morning, Marley didn't even notice. Our puppy had became an old dog without us realizing.
Our Marley turned into a tired old dog before we knew it. His eyesight was fuzzy and he could barley hear anymore. The worst part of all was his hips. You could pat his rump lightly and he would fall down as soon as you touched him. Marley still loved to steal food from the kids and dive into the pool but he would rather sleep all day instead.
Marley's stomach had twisted once. After that he still acted like his usual self. He still ate a ton and stole food off the children's plates. But Marley was getting very old and it was about his time to go. Marley's stomach twisted again and jenny and I decided to put him down. We thought that he didn't deserve to live in pain. As we said our goodbyes the children still didn't understand that they would never get to see Marley again. I had started to cry as me and Marley drove to the vet. I almost didn't watch the vet put Marley down but I thought that I should still be able to see him while he's still alive. Good bye Marley I whispered and it was all over.
