in the beginning there was only the sky above and the waters below. The gods of these two places were, Olorun the ruler of the sky, and Olokun the ruler of the waters and everything in them.
One day one of the gods by the name of Obatala decided to create a dry land. He asked for permission from Olorun and advice from Orunmila the wisest god. They told him hoe to create land so he took to the sky's to start making land
After creating land Obatala became bored, so he began making figures out of clay. He asked Olorun to bring them to life and he did. At first the humans were disformed and ugly so Obatala vowed to quit drinking. After that he made new figures and Olorun brought them to life and they started to build homes and cities
No one informed Olokun about the creation of dry land and humans. Angered by not being informed he caused a great flood nearly wiping out all of Obatala's creations. After that everyone took the seas more seriously.
