Storyboard Text

  • I think the matter is made of small, hard particles. I will call this "atomas". They can't be divided into smaller pieces.
  • Democritus (470-380 BC)
  • John Dalton (1808)
  • Based on Democritus' works, I created the first atomic theory. Atom is a tiny, solid ball
  • I thought Dalton's model could be broken into smaller particles. So I experimented using the Cathode Ray Tube and I discovered the electrons.
  • J.J. THOMSON (1897)
  • Ernest Rutherfold (1910)
  • In my Gold Foil Experiment, I found something strange. Some particles were being deflected! With this experiment, I discovered the protons and the nucleus.
  • Based on the Rutherfold's model, I improved his model. I proposed that electrons move around the nucleus in specific layers. Each layers are called "energy level"
  • Niels Bohr (1913)
  • James Chadwick (1932)
  • I bombarded beryllium atoms with alpha particles and I discovered the particles with no charge. I named this particle "neutrons".
