  • Abraham Lincoln was a compassionate and trusted leader who helped out a lot throughout the civil war. He helped with slavery, segregation, and much more.
  • Jefferson Davis was the president of the confederate states from 1862-1865, for three years
  • Robert E. Lee left the U.S army to lead for the confederacy. He commanded the Army of Northern Virginia, but he later surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant in 1865
  • William Carney was the first black solider in the Union to receive an award. He was brave and took the flag during battle while he was severely wounded.
  • Ulysses S. Grant was a commander of the Union army. He also created a plan and marched through Georgia, known as Sherman's march. He destroyed towns throughout the march.
  • Philip Bazaar was a Navy seaman in the Union. He received medals for his bravery and for what he had done to help the Navy.
