  • The white's lived in a small parlour in Laburnam Villa. Srgt. Morris opens the door to the house. He pulled out a monkey's paw and Herbert, the son, examines it. Srgt. Morris ends up throwing it in the fire.
  • Climax
  • Mr. White picks it up quickly and keeps it. Srgt. Morris warns them but they ignore it. They wish for 200 pounds but nothing happens. They all end up going to bed.
  • Falling action
  • Mrs.White walks Herbert out the door to go to work. Mr. and Mrs. White talk until they notice a man knocks at the door. The man tells them their son has died so they give them 200 pounds. Ten days go by and they haven't really talked.
  • Resolution
  • That night Mrs. White is crying by the window but she comes up with this idea. She decides to wish her son back to life. She tells her husband to go wish him back so he does. Eventually there is a knock at the door.
  • Mr. White was the first one to hear it. Mrs. White went running downstairs trying to open the door but the bolt was to high for her to reach. The husband tried to find the monkey paw on the floor.
  • Mr. White eventually found the monkey paw on the floor while the wife was pulling a chair over to unlock the door. He hurried up and wished his last wish. The knocking stopped and when Mrs. White opened the door there was nothing there.
