Storyboard Text

  • The results from the tests we conducted are in, and it seems you have a rare disease called zika.
  • Remember a week ago when you went camping?
  • Zika, what is zika?
  • OUCH! A mosquito just bit me!
  • A week earlier..
  • You should really be careful outdoors, some mosquitos carry a disease called zika!
  • Symptoms include fevers, rashes, joint pain, and red eyes. It could cause nerve-based disorders, too. Fortunately, only very few people have died of zika, so the chance is very small for that.
  • Is there a cure available? How do I make sure my friends and family don't get zika?
  • Wait, what are the symptoms?! Will I die?!
  • Unfortunately, there is no vaccine as of now, but people are working on one. There are a handful of groups trying to develop a cure.
  • Thank goodness!
  • You can also prevent zika by always wearing bug spray outdoors.
  • Citation: Administrator. "Transmission of Zika Virus by Aedes Mosquitoes." Transmission of Zika Virus by Aedes Mosquitoes. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Feb. 2017.
  • Yes, but it can be avoided by not having unprotected sexual intercourse with infected people.
  • Can zika spread from person to person?
  • Interesting facts about your disease: Zika began in Africa. It also causes birth defects in pregnant women.
  • Citation: "Zika Virus." Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 02 Feb. 2017. Web. 10 Feb. 2017.
  • That's awful! Thanks for the talk, I'll be on my way. Nice color changing floors by the way!
