Storyboard Text

  • Sure! I do work there, after all. Maybe you should ask Mr Smith, too.
  • Samantha wants a job at Barnes & Noble, which is where her good friend John works, so she asks him for help. She is actively networking, which is a Do.
  • I want to get a job at Barnes & Noble, but I don't know how. Can you help?
  • Later that day, Samantha goes for a walk and runs into Mr Smith! Unfortunately, Samantha does not take John's advice, thinking Mr Smith is too old to help her in her search. This is a networking Don't.
  • There's Mr Smith... John said I should talk to him, but he's way too old to help me.
  • Hello, Samantha!
  • After she gets back from her walk, Samantha searches for a job on the internet using Monster.com, a general job source, and finds an opening in her area. This is a Do because she is actively searching.

  • Looks like a job opening in my area!
  • Hello, Mom! I asked John, and I researched online. Do you have any advice?
  • At dinner, Samantha's mom asks her how her search is going, and gives her a newspaper so she can look at classified ads in a printed source.
  • Newspaper
  • Excellent! I suggest taking a look at this newspaper. That's how I found my first job.
  • Hello, sweetie. Did you find a job yet?
  • A few weeks later, after much hard work and dedication, Samantha gets the job! Hooray!
  • No problem! It will be fun having a friend here at work.
  • Thank you for helping me, John. You've been the best help in getting this job! You put in a good word for me after I applied.
  • THE END!
