The end of The Terror was near in July 1794. Robespierre appeared before the Convention with more people to be arrested. Although, the tables quickly turned as he was arrested and sentenced to death along with his followers by the Convention, a move motivated by fear.
No! You shall be arrested and sentenced to death.
The Thermidorian Reaction, a violent backlash against the rule of Robespierre, was the final blow to the Reign of Terror. Leaders of this movement attacked Jacobins and Robespierrists, while people who remained in the Convention drafted another constitution for a new government.
Down with the Jacobins!!!
The new constitution included an executive branch led by five directors known as the Directory. This regime held onto power for four years. These final acts proved that The Terror was finally over, but the revolution still continued…
