The fall of The Terror began with the shutting down of political clubs and societies. The first to go were the women's clubs, which played a key role in 3rd estate politics.
"Ultrarevolutionaries" and "indulgents" were the next to be under trial by Robespierre in the spring of 1794. Deputy Danton, once a member of the Committee of Public Safety, was sentenced to death for treason. A man who once influenced politics in France was soon killed by The Terror.
That is as many as "300,000" people!
During The Terror, "1 out of every 50" people were sentenced to prison between March 1793 and August 1794.
