The Battle Begins!
In 1557, when Elizabeth I was Queen of England and Phillip II was King of Spain, the two countries did not like each other much.
The Break Of The Formation
Elizabeth I a Protestant had just signed the death warrant for the Mary Queen of Scots who was Catholic.
The Burning Ships
In 1558, Phillip sent 130 warships to invade England. The English saw the Armada and lit fire beacons along the country to warn London.
The Spanish panicked and the Armada scattered in all directions, breaking the crescent formation.
The English ships then attacked the Spanish fleet. They were quicker and had better cannons so they were able to make a lot of damage.
Elizabeth thought that she had made greatest achievement.
