Storyboard Text

  • Welcome to Mohenjo-Daro! The city is located on the banks of the river Indus, in modern-day Pakistan. It was built in the 26th century B.C.
  • Our homes are built out of baked mud brick. Since they are baked in a kiln instead of sun-dried, they are more durable. Rich people have courtyards in the house.
  • This is the shower house. We dump water over our heads, then there is a drain that the water flows down. The drain leads to a pipe, that leads to the sewer.
  • This is the Great Bath. We use it for both spiritual and physical purification.
  • Seals are used to mark our property, because most of us can't read or write.
  • We use boats to travel up the Indus river to trade. The boats have flat bottoms and a sail.
