Bush v. Gore, case in which, on Dec. 12, 2000, the Supreme Court of the United States reversed a Florida Supreme Court request for a selective manual recount of that state’s U.S. presidential election ballots.
Bush v. Gore reasserted the supremacy of the Federal Government in determining the rules by which federal elections are to be held. - States/Municipalities can no longer use local rules and/or procedures to affect election results for federal offices.
