  • I have the mineral Hematite, it's part if the oxide family.
  • All of the oxygen is combined with a metal. The minerals can be very dark or colorful. Always used for metals.
  • Whats the oxide family?
  • It's harder than pyrite and quartz, but softer than talc and sulfur.
  • You make it seem important but what is it used for in everyday life?
  • It's used in iron, paintings, gemstones/jewelry, and energy.
  • What does it look like?
  • It is in a triangular shape and is black, gray, red, brown, and silver.
  • Interesting! is it shiny?
  • Yes. It is metallic. Some cool things about it are it is NOT magnetic even though it's metal and it's been found on mars.
  • Where can I find Hematite?
  • It can be found in clay, mars, and iron mines. It's not found in your household though.
