Charlie Bone discovers he can hear people talking in photographs and his horrible aunts are delighted that he has this new talent.

  • That's certainly not a dog
  • Charlie, tell me what you hear.
  • I hear voices from this photograph.
  • Ben, I have started to hear voices in photographs.
  • Charlie your mother wants you back at the house.
  • Weird!
  • He clearly needs to attend the academy.
  • Come on Charlie, try or we'll make you cry
  • Nothing. I don't hear anything.
  • What do you hear Charlie?
  • Look at those photographs. Do you hear anything?
  • Charlie Bone receives the enlarged photo of his friends dog Runner Bean which he requested from Kwik Foto, to make a birthday card for his friend Benjamin Brown but instead he receives a photo of a man cradling a baby and starts to hear voices.
  • Thanks for bringing my photos. I hope this is yours. To thank you I would like to offer you some of my brother in laws inventions.
  • Yes that's my photo of my friends dog, Runner Bean.
  • Charlie explains to his friend Benjamin that he has started to hear voices in pictures. First in a photograph in a newspaper and then in a photo he incorrectly received from Kwik Photo.
  • The picture is all I had of my niece. Shortly after my sister Nancy died, her husband Dr Tolly, had given his daughter away and exchanged his baby for the metal case.
  • Thanks for the robotic dog and metal case.
  • Grandma Bone invites all three of Charlie's great aunts (the Yewbeams) to discuss and assess Charlie's potential powers. His mother cannot be present however his uncle can.
  • Then don't
  • I'm going to a big school near the heights called Bloor's Academy. I don't want to go there, Ben.
  • Charlie goes to the address shown on the back of the incorrect photograph he received from Kwik Foto. The address takes him to a book store where he meets Miss Ingledew.
  • Miss Ingledew thanks Charlie by offering him some boxes containing her brother in-laws inventions and a silver box. She explains to Charlie that she wants to find her niece.
  • Charlie tells Benjamin about him leaving to go to Bloor's academy.
