Storyboard Text

  • I know that all of you are concerned. That you feel I have made a mistake.
  • Jonas has not been assigned. Jonas has been Selected.
  • What? What does that mean?
  • He has shown all the qualities  that a Receiver must have. 
  • The last Eleven became a Twelve and was assigned. However, Jonas still has not been assigned the the whole crown isn't sure what is happening. The Chief Elder announced that this isn't a mistake. He apologized to everyone for causing such anxiety. And they all accept the apology like they are supposed to. "We accept your apology" (Lowry 59). 
  • Jonas has been called up to the stage. Instead of doing his walked he planned, he nervously walked up. The chief elder had grabbed his shoulder and informed the crowd and Jonas his new special role. He became the Receiver of Memory.
  • We thank you for your childhood.
  • But sometimes I see something. And maybe its beyond.
  • The Chief Elder has announced Jonas's new assignment. She is know listing the very important qualities that Jonas has to be the Receiver. She also describes another quality that everyone and even the Chief doesn't understand.  The ability to "See Beyond". 
  • All of a sudden, Jonas looks at a crowd. The same thing happened like the time with the apple. The crowd changed. Jonas saw a color like the apple where it turned red. 
  • Jonas says his last words. After seeing the crowd change, he thinks its the beyond. After, the Chief Elder thanks him for his childhood and congratulates him. She then walks off the stage,
  • Jonas is left alone on the stage. The crowd the as a whisper started to say Jonas. Progressively, they get louder and start to say Jonas in a chant. Jonas became proud. But he feared too. He didn't what was to come.
  • Jonas! Jonas! Jonas!
