  • Lexington and Concord
  • Bunker Hill
  • dont fire till you see the whites of their eyes
  • Valley Forge
  • Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the revolutionary war. It occurred on the road from Lexington heading to Concord. It was known as "The shot heard round the world"(pg 173). The american colonists forced British troops to retreat and also peppered them as they fled to safety.
  • Fort Sackville
  • The battle of Bunker Hill took place on a hill in front of Boston. Sadly the British won this battle but the Colonists killed 1000 British soldiers while only 400 Americans dying. Running low on ammunition the famous saying "don't fire till you see the whites of their eyes" was said.
  • Charles Town
  • Valley Forge was not a battle it was just a very harsh winter for the Americans. they lacked warm shelter and clothing and many died to many disease. Many men had to have limbs amputated and you could tell where people walked since their feet were bleeding. Thankfully some women from Pennsylvania brought supplies to get them through the winter. Thomas Paine said "This is the times that try mens souls."
  • Battle of Yorktown
  • Fort Sackville was a very gruesome fight. The "Hair Buyer" started paying for the scalps of Americans. But the Americans one after executing the native american allies of the British and made the British give up.
  • The battle of Charles Town was the Americans worst defeat. They lost many men while the british lost the trust of slaves by lying to them by telling them they could be free if they fought with them
  • The Battle of Yorktown was the last big battle of the war. British commander Cornwallis with 8000 men where in a fort in Yorktown waiting for supplies. But the french's Naval fleet blocked off the bay while George Washington's troops put the city into siege. the french and Washington's troops started firing on the city and Forced Cornwallis to surrender his 8000 men ending the war. Lord North said "Its all over."
