Spartacus, was a thracian that joined the army, and things didn't go well so he tried to escape but he got caught, so he was sold into slavery.
Spartacus lived the life of a gladiator wich is basically a slave trained to fight for the entertainment of romans.
In 73 B.C. Spartacus and 70 other gladiators escaped They fled to Mount Vesuvius near the city of Pompeii gathering more slaves.
Rome sent an army of 3,000 people to take care of the gladiators, but the gladiators used the vines in the mountains to sneak up behind the romans, killing almost all 3,000.
As the gladiators gained more and more success witht the romans, other slaves joined them. Soon there army grew to over 70,000!
The romans were getting very worried about the new force of slaves and gladiators. Sadly two roman generals killed Spartacus.
