Earth is believed to be formed about 5 billion years ago.
Over long periods of time Earth separated into layers and its crust cooled. Earth than settled down but than a meteor the size of mars struck earth.
Molten rock oozed like rivers in some places. All the volcanic activity released heavier gasses creating carbon monoxide and methane.
The hydrosphere was formed 4 billion years ago from water vapor. This created oceans of water where sedimentation occurs.
Algae began using the sun to split molecules of H2o and Co2. This is know as photosynthesis.
There was less greenhouse gases in the world. The earth became much colder. Turning the planet into a giant "Snowball" but volcanoes shot through and melted the ice.
