Israel was a nation state formed in the early 1900s as a safe nation for people of jewish religion and descent. There was much controversy around the fact that it replaced the british mandate of Palestine, which wanted it's own nation
Over time the Palestinians have been slowly marginalized in Israel and conflict began to increase between Islamic nationalist groups and the Israeli Government
Support and government systems
The Israelis were attacked often by the Islamist nationalist group Hamas, who were known for their unwavering desire to destroy Israel as they believe the land should be owned by palestine
The Israeli government responded by severely bombing locations where the Hamas was thought to be located, specifically the area known as the Gaza STrip
The Israelis have a known distrust of their neighbors in the middle east because unlike most middle eastern countries, Israel was a product of western influence and therefore its allies are mostly western countries. This lead to a culmination known as the 6 day war.
These factors have lead to an Israeli nation that believes it is surrounded on all sides by enemies and cannot trust anyone. This has put an end to a chance at a two nation plan between Israel and Palestine for now.
