Storyboard Text

  • It was on November 19, 1863 that Abraham Lincoln had written and read the Gettysburg Address aloud.
  • Lincoln had not been prepared to speak; he wrote his speech on a napkin during the train ride there.
  • People came from all over to hear him speak.
  • "...of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth."
  • Lincoln's speech had only been two minutes long.
  • Lincoln's speech was so short the only photo taken during it was of him exiting the stage.
  • I didn't get but one photograph of him leaving the stage!
  • To this day the Gettysburg Address is still thought to be honored and should continue to be an important part of history.
